Dr. Markus Kraus

Dr. Markus Kraus, born in 1977, studied law with a special emphasis on business law at Bayreuth University, Bordeaux (Maître en Droit) and Mainz (first state law exam). In 2000-2001 he worked at the Research Centre for German and European Food Law in Bayreuth. Between 2004 and 2006 Dr. Kraus was a member of the academic staff at the Department of European Law and Public International Law in Innsbruck, Austria. Having completed his doctoral thesis in Passau and his legal training, Dr. Kraus worked for meyer//meisterernst rechtsanwälte from 2009 to 2011, since 2012 for meyer.rechtsanwälte.
While studying, Dr. Kraus received a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes) and from the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst).
The main focus of Dr. Kraus´ work lies on German and European food law and related fields of law. He advises clients on all issues of competition law and regulatory matters. This covers particulary the introduction of new products, the marketability of foods and their ingredients including additives, also extending to the approval of such products as well as the classification (food/additive and food/pharmaceutical product).
Dr. Kraus is co-editor of the textbook on food law ("Lebensmittelrecht" Verlag Österreich). His specialist knowledge is also evidenced by numerous academic publications on German, Austrian and European food law and on European competition law.
